Summary/Abstract: The green and digital transformations are the two main trends that will shape the future of the European Union. Both transformations are a priority on the EU political agenda and their implementation will have significant consequences in the future. Although the transformations are different in nature, their connection can lead to mutual reinforcement and, consequently, to achieving climate neutrality by 2050. The main assumption of the ecological transformation is to counteract climate change by fundamentally changing production and consumption patterns and taking into account environmental costs. Digital technologies can play a key role in achieving climate neutrality, reducing pollution and restoring biodiversity. Harnessing the potential of digital transformation as a sustainable development process can accelerate the achievement of environmental goals. The aim of the article is to present the main steps undertaken by the EU as part of the implementation of the assumptions of the twin transition in the period 2019-2023 and an attempt to assess the results of this process so far. The twin transition in the EU is analyzed in the paper through the prism of two programs: the European Green Deal and the Digital Decade. The study indicates performance indicators in terms of progress in achieving digital and environmental goals and determines the degree of their implementation. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that in order to achieve the assumed environmental and digital goals, it is necessary to adopt a comprehensive and strategic approach to the twin transition, as well as to create a political framework and appropriate management, with a particular emphasis on constant monitoring of effects.
