Summary/Abstract: In 2022, three decades have passed since the reactivation of the Metropolitanate of Bessarabia and its return to the canonical structure of the Romanian Orthodox Church. For the Romanian dioceses across the Prut River, there were thirty years of struggle to cultivate the national consciousness and freedom of belief under challenging conditions. In addition to the official documents, the history around the year 1992 was also written through the efforts of some Romanian hierarchs who coagulated around them the Bessarabian intellectual elite. The archive of late Metropolitan Antonie Plămădeală stores some unpublished documents that shed new light on the events that took place at the dawn of democracy in the two neighboring and sister states.
