Summary/Abstract: The Romanian Orthodox Church operates following a Statute of organization and functioning. The presence of this document is not only a legal requirement, existent in all the laws of cults so far, but also a Constitutional right. The elaboration of such a document was made in different moments of the history of this Church, which were directly connected with the Romanian country’s particularly historical and political events, but also with the changes in the life of this religious institution. Such changes have generated the need to update the old Statute of Organization (issued in 2007) through a new document, published in Monitorul Oficial in early 2020. Because this legislative innovation has been treated in the Romanian society with low interest, we present here the differences between these two documents.
