Summary/Abstract: The midwife's professional competencies represent a complex of knowledge, skills, attitudes and personal qualities that must be formed in the training process. In the new social realities, especially educational ones, in addition to the application of traditional teaching methods, students also need new, innovative approaches corresponding to their needs. The purpose of the study is to analyze the opinion of the students of the "Midwife" specialty regarding their practical and theoretical training in midwifery care and to assess their attitude towards the application of modern methods and means of training. The study was conducted through an individual anonymous survey and covers 53 students from the "Midwife" specialty of the Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, MD" MU-Sofia for the academic year 2023/2024. The results of the study show that the students are satisfied to a great extent with the amount of practical knowledge and skills regarding midwifery care. Some of them do not feel completely confident in their preparation for conducting clinical practice in the AG-structures of medical institutions. Тhe probable reason, according to them, is that practical training does not come as close as possible to the real work environment. The students are interested in increasing their practical skills for providing quality midwifery care and believe that equipping practice offices with modern visual aids will contribute to this.
