Summary/Abstract: In the present study we aimed to present the life and personality of Saint Dionysius of Olympus, highlighting aspects of his hesychastic experience. We have underlined the main teachings and the monastic rules left as a legacy to his disciples, as well as the important events that marked the existence of the monastery of Olympus. Regarding the existence of the monastery for over 400 years, things could be detailed in further research, given the intense life and the countless events that took place here. In my work I highlighted the fact that Saint Dionysius was a true example in the preservation of the faith, during the Ottoman occupation (1453-1821) fighting for the preservation of national consciousness through the mission he did in the surrounding towns, at the monastery of Olympus as well as the other monasteries he passed through. We could have said much more about St. Dionysius and the importance of the monastery on Mount Olympus, but we consider that what is shown here is sufficient to understand: (1) his ascetic experience, apostolic zeal and social missionary mission; (2) the mission in organizing hesychastic life, by continuing the astonished traditions and experiences; (3) the efforts and musical compositions highlighted by talent and a lot of exercise; (4) sacrifice to the fulfillment of holy ideals, strengthening the faith and freedom of the nation.
