Summary/Abstract: The topic addressed is structured into several sections that include legislative analysesand interpretations regarding the national and international mountain area, economic sociology,history, philosophy, statistics, and anthropology.The analysis extends to the legislative challenges in the direction of sustainabledevelopment of the mountain area, the valorization of agricultural production, the development ofalternative economic systems, migration, the quality of life, and the workforce.In conclusion, the mountain area is in a paradigm shift, today being considered an areaof national importance and it is obvious that we are witnessing a desire for its revival. The aspectis visible through the lens of the recent normative regulations but also of the challenges thatinclude dimensions such as ”generating national security, food sovereignty, depository of culturalvalues”, and adding economic, ecological, and social values to the mountain space.
