Summary/Abstract: The information technology development and its use in everyday life have led to a mainly virtual artificial environment, called cyberspace. According to one of the widely accepted definitions, cyberspace comprises all the elements that store, transport and process information, as well as all the procedures associated to them. Apart from the fact that the processes that are carried out within this environment have changed the lifestyle drastically, cyberspace is also considered a strategic field. Moreover, it is a place where both offensive and defensive cyber operations able to reach the extent of cyber wars can occur. Taking decisions related to cyber defence requires maps for the area of responsibility or the locations where operations could take place. Although some key features belonging to traditional operational maps are preserved, cyber maps are more complex and have more dynamic representations. The article presents the methods and tendencies in cyberspace cartography.
