Summary/Abstract: The text describes the successive stages of the “revival” of “22 Variations for Piano” (1926) by Lubomir Pipkov, aimed at bringing the work out of years of oblivion. The author’s personal motives to take on such an undertaking have been presented and the algorithm leading to the return of the work to the concert podium has been followed, namely deciphering the composer’s manuscript – editing – musical analysis – interpretation – performance – recording. A brief formal analysis of the work has been carried out, followed by self-reflection on two different interpretative concepts of the performer, which proved necessary for clarifying Lubomir Pipkov’s compositional concept and creating the prospect of additional interpretative possibilities for future performers.
