Summary/Abstract: In the past few years, countries of the Western Balkans have been faces new types of security risks that have their common denominator. The focus of this paper is to determine the relevance of the current National Security and Defense Concept and its coherence with contemporary threats, while giving focus to the renewed strategies and their complementarity with the Concept. As a secondary goal, it will be the capture of the current positioning of our national security system in the regional security sub-complex - Western Balkans, with a segmental focus on the latest threats from false reports about explosive devices in institutions across the country. The need for reconfiguration and reworking of the Concept has proven necessary in order to keep up with the fight against modern threats. Analogously, specific proposals were given for the advancement of the Concept by restructuring it and inserting the new modern threats lurking on the state systems. In addition, a positive review was given for the need for coherence with the states that gravitate in the regional security sub-complex - Western Balkans.
