Rules on the replacement of the chairperson of the voivodship (regional) council

Summary/Abstract: The author states that in the case of the death of the chairperson of the voivodship (regional) council, his or her duties shall be assumed by the vice-chair indicated in the authorisation. A similar rule applies in the absence of the chairperson of the voivodship council. In the absence of such authorisation, the oldest vice-chair should assume the chairperson’s duties. The opinion also stresses that the voivodship council is obliged to elect a new chairperson, if this position becomes vacant.
