Summary/Abstract: The current international security environment consists of elements of continuity as well as of elements of discontinuity compared to the Cold War period. Even so, the events that have taken place in the international arena in recent years and the forces and trends that are currently in action seem to accentuate the changes and to gradually diminish the elements of continuity. In this context, the author points out, the new threats to international security require the concerted efforts of all democratic states to prevent and counter them. Therefore, some effective mechanisms for the collective management and assessment of information should be established.
