TheRelationship Between the Levels of Glass Ceiling Syndrome and ob Satisfaction of Women Employees in Tourism: An Application in Public and Private Sector Enterprises

Summary/Abstract: This study aims to determine the effect of glass ceiling perceptions of female employees in the tourism sector on job satisfaction. In this context, research was conducted on public and private sector employees. The population of the research consists of female employees working in the tourism sector. Due to the large number of women working in the public and private sectors in Ankara, the research group The Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB) and academicians were selected from female employees working in Turkish Airlines (THY), hotels and travel agencies. A total of 500 surveys were sent, 250 to public sector employees and 250 to private sector employees, and 388 surveys that were considered valid were analyzed. The survey form consists of three parts: demographic characteristics, glass ceiling syndrome scale and job satisfaction scale. SPSS (The Statistical Package for Social Science) statistical program was used to analyze the data and Pearson Correlation, t-test and one way ANOVA test were performed during the analysis. As a result of the research, it was revealed that the glass ceiling syndrome had a negative and significant effect on the job satisfaction of female employees employed in the tourism sector.
