Summary/Abstract: Assault troops (Stormtroops) were formed during the First World War to break the stalemate of positional warfare. The text discusses the organization of these units in the Austro-Hungarian Army, the training process, and the biographies of the Polish officers serving in them. The paper also discusses the attempts made by the Command of the General District Cracow (Dowództwo Okręgu Generalnego Kraków) to introduce and adopt WW1 assault tactics into the Polish Army at its Assault School (1918–1919).
