NATION BETWEEN TRAGEDY AND IDYLL

Summary/Abstract: This essay analyses how national ideologies use the basic opposition of modernity, i.e., the opposition between nature and culture. I will discuss two main modes of usage: the tragic and idyllic. The aim of the paper is to shed light on their structural dimensions and their complex double bind, which exemplifi es the structural nexus of modernity.
