Summary/Abstract: This article attempts to present the idea of cultural transaction in the light of Édouard Glissant’s theory of Tout-Monde and his poetics of Relation. Translation becomes a mean to introduce the Otherness to the reader who must accept its part in the reader-writer pact legitimizing the cultural transaction and its aims. The novel Solibo Magnifique, written by Patrick Chamoiseau in 1988, serves as an illustration of this process.
