Summary/Abstract: This article examines the rise and fall of religious violence, exploring how “cosmic war” [a metaphysical battle between good and wrong that occurs on a transcendental level] narratives are employed by various religious groups to justify violence. By analyzing case studies such as the conflict between Hamas and Israel, the Khalistan movement in India, and ISIS in Iraq, the paper argues that “cosmic war” frames conflict in metaphysical terms, elevating them beyond mere political struggles. The study also investigates the conditions under which these violent movements lose their momentum and the role of moderate authorities in mitigating such conflicts.
