Summary/Abstract: The Biblical tale of the three servants sent out into the world with respectively one, two and three talents admonishes us to use whatever abilities we may be endowed with wisely and productively. But there are also rare individuals out there whose talents lie far off the charts, beyond any recognizable common measure - people who by the standards of the Biblical parable would have received talents by the bucketful rather than just a handful. These people face the difficulty of having to manage their exception, often at a steep personal price. They may also be mercilessly discriminated against, especially in the world's more conformist societies. Yet at the same time, society is increasingly trying to artificially emulate whatever it is that enables their exceptional status.
