Summary/Abstract: At the beginning of the 21st century, the security environment too is affected by modifications, transformations or other phenomena. Among these, one may mention the Russian Federation attempts to be recognised as a great power. The Russian Federation’s will to actively participate on the international scene as a significant actor in all the aspects was remarked by all worlds’ states. The present article intends to emphasise a part of the directions towards which the current efforts and preoccupations of the Russian Federation are oriented – the economic development, the relation with the European Union and the vision over the Black Sea Wider Area – in order to maintain national security, promote national interests and be recognised as a main actor on the international political scene.
