Summary/Abstract: This research brings to light an unknown part of Fr. Niculae M. Popescu’s personality, namely his love for authentic Romanian byzantine music and his talent to interpret it. On the 60th anniversary of his passing to the God, we bring a homage to the one who loved and valued so much the Romanian psaltic treasure. Both the direct testimonies of his friends and relatives, but also his interest in studying psaltic music shows the academician Father Niculae M. Popescu as a worthy successor of the masters of Romanian church music from the 19th century. After a brief presentation of the biographical thread, this study brings more evidence that attests to the fact that Fr. N. Popescu was a passionate researcher, good connoisseur of Romanian psaltic music and its history, but above all a skilled psalter. The research of byzantine music books, from the personal library of Fr. Niculae M. Popescu, reveals many olographic notes, which indicate that he carefully studied these books and sang the chants that these volumes contain.
