Summary/Abstract: Social participation should be the basis of revitalization activities. The necessity of socializ-ing the revitalization process is emphasized in both domestic and foreign literature. In the literature, different levels and forms of social participation are distinguished. In Poland, the revitalization com-mittee should be considered the highest form of public participation in the revitalization process, en-abling the inclusion of stakeholders in the management of this process. According to the legislator, it acts as a liaison between the municipal authorities and other stakeholders of revitalization in matters related to the preparation, conduct and assessment of revitalization. Therefore, it is the most impor-tant body exercising social control over all elements of the revitalization process, and gives stakehold-ers a chance to exert a real impact on the course of revitalization activities. Numerous studies and reports show, however, that the revitalization committee is still an insufficiently practiced instrument of social participation, and some municipalities evade the statutory obligation to establish it. On the other hand, the scale of occurrence of consultative and advisory bodies performing functions similar to those of the revitalization committees in the case of programs adopted by non-statutory means deserves a positive assessment. The aim of the article is to assess the role and scope of activity of revitalization committees and similar advisory bodies in the revitalization process on the example of the Wielkopolska region. In order to reach the purpose of the desk-based data analysis and survey have been conducted.
