Summary/Abstract: Albanians gained their first independence in 1913, as a result of the decision of European powers. The Great War, as well as internal disputes among Albanian warlords, led to the collapse of sovereignty in 1914–1918. During the Paris Peace Conference, representatives of the Entente and the United States had to make a decision about the future of Albanians. This issue was not resolved in 1919 due to numerous issues. The determination of the Albanians and the favorable situation in the international scene meant that they began to expel foreign troops from their country and demand accession to the League of Nations. The article aims to present the attitude of British diplomacy towards the problem of recognizing sovereign Albania.
