Summary/Abstract: This article describes the difficult relationship between Antoine Mesurat and his two daughters, Germaine and Adrienne, in the novel “Adrienne Mesurat”. In fact, this family is the symbol of the bourgeois family at the beginning of the twentieth century driven by selfish interests and guided by greedy desires. The father, proud and tyrannical, reigns as an all-powerful master over his two daughters whose way of life depends on his moods. These, in turn, while despising him, will defy him, each in her own way. For Germaine, the only way to free herself from her father’s tyranny is to flee from the small town of La Tour-l’Évêque to a convent in an unknown place. For Adrienne, the only way to free herself from her father’s yoke is to commit parricide and regain her coveted freedom at the Villa des Charmes.
