Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the activity of Bolek V of Opole during the Hussite wars, the period of his life most frequently discussed in literature. However, particular authors describing his activity often come to contradictory conclusions. To resolve the contradiction, the author reassesses the sources concerning the issue, trying to correct some of the controversial opinions. The study reveals that Bolek V remained under the influence of his father Bolek IV throughout the whole period of the Hussite military actions in Silesia. The Piasts from Opole in the first years of the heretic's invasion of Silesia belonfed to the anti-Hussite camp, which, among others, resulted in the burning of Głogówek, the headquarters of young Bolek in 1428. He joined the Hussites two years later, probably on his father’s recommendation and with his uncle Bernard’s knowledge. The author proposes a different chronology of military actions during the campaign of 1430. Besides, he rejects, as do some historians, the alleged participation of Bolek the V in the invasion of Częstochowa and Jemielnica.
