Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the development and activities of the school sightseeing and tourism movement in Poland and its current state. The beginnings of tourism and sightseeing at school are related to the establishment of the National Education Commission, which already in the 18th century saw the benefits of classes conducted in the field. However, in the 1920s, this movement took an organized form. Support from the authorities and socio‐economic factors led to an increase in interest in the activities of school tourism and tourism clubs (SKKT) in the 1970s and 1980s, which at that time gathered over 300,000 people. students. However, since then, SKKT’s popularity has been declining. The greatest decline in interest occurred as a result of the introduction of distance education during the coronavirus pandemic, and despite the return to stationary teaching, the situation of SKKT is not improving. The work also indicates the reasons that are responsible for the decreasing interest of students and teachers in school sightseeing and tourism. The article also reviews the forms of activities of SKKT.
