Summary/Abstract: Do your colleagues go for a coffee after work without inviting you as well? Do they often interrupt you and disparage your ideas and behavior? Do you dislike being called a nickname and receiving "boring" assignments from your boss or you are not given an assignment whatsoever? If one of these actions occurs once a week or over a longer period of time (six months or longer), it is very likely that you are being a victim of mobbing i.e. abuse at work. The main goal of this research is to provide an overview of the relevant literature in the field of abuse at work as a form of violence and to analyze the various forms it takes in the Republic of Croatia. The empirical study is based on secondary sources, specifically the data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics for the observed period of 2018-2022. Adult perpetrators of criminal offenses are evaluated based on gender, nature of offense (e.g., abuse at work, sexual harassment, and humiliation of subordinate or junior colleagues), and enforced sanctions. The paper discusses the observed trends of reported, accused and convicted perpetrators of selected criminal acts, and accordingly critically approaches the analysis of lenient criminal policy in the Republic of Croatia. The application of a suspended prison sentence is particularly problematic. The authors elaborate on different facets of this negative social phenomena, with particular attention paid to the sociological aspects of mobbing in addition to the legal issues. Furthermore, this study draws from the body of knowledge already available on the topic, highlights potential implications for future development and offers possible solutions de lege ferenda.
