Summary/Abstract: Child, early, and forced marriages represent a negative social phenomenon and a form of violation of children‘s rights and are present in the the general population and in the Roma community. They are often interpreted as being part of stereotype of the Roma tradition, but it is assumed that they occur most often with poverty, lack of access to education and health care, and life in patriarchal families. This paper analyzes the connections between early, child, and forced marriages in the Roma community and gender based-violence. Through a research in Roma community, the problem of child marriages in the Roma community in Serbia is pointed out, and the position of Roma girls and their exposure to violence, as well as the existing measures for support are approached.
