Summary/Abstract: The skill of individuals to regulate their internal emotional states and the influence of emotions on behaviour is termed “emotional intelligence.” Within the psychological realm of sports and physical activity, researchers delve into the impact of diverse psychological processes on athletes’ behaviour. The objective is to optimize the physical, technical, and tactical potential cultivated by athletes during training, ensuring its maximal manifestation during competitive periods for enhanced sports performance. This article seeks to provide a concise yet fundamental review of how the theory of emotional intelligence is situated and examined in the field of sports psychology.
