Summary/Abstract: Globalization, technological advancement, and environmental degradation are the main forces behind the growth of eco-innovation. Along with minimizing adverse effects on the environment and making efficient utilization of natural resources, eco- innovation is also closely tied to the goals regarding sustainable growth and development. Eco-innovation needs to be systematically measured to track advancements made towards a more sustainable future. The creation of metrics and techniques for measuring eco-innovation is a significant theoretical and practical problem. The current state of eco-innovation measurement methods is such that a cross-national comparative analysis is challenging. The objective of this paper is to perform a comparative examination of the eco-innovation performance in European Union countries as a key driver of sustainable growth and development. The research employs a comparative assessment and synthesis approach founded on the Eco-Innovation Index in addition to a critical assessment of scholarly literature. Creating and implementing eco-innovation performances in EU countries should be given top priority to promote future sustainable growth and development.
