Summary/Abstract: In the world of detective literary serials since the beginning of the 21st century, the pathologist has become increasingly important. This key character has even come to rival the one of the detective, directing the readers’ attention to the scientific side of the crime and to the investigation. Pathologists are textual carriers of the poetics and the psychology inherent in realist literature and an embodiment of cultural principles: Eros and Thanatos, Good and Evil, Order and Chaos.
