Summary/Abstract: The article characterizes the ban on the publication of pre-election polls in force inthe Polish electoral law. The problem addressed is an interdisciplinary issue, as it is thesubject of scientific research in legal sciences, but also sociological and political science.The considerations presented in the article are limited to remarks relating to the scope oflegal sciences. The purpose of this article is, first of all, to present the main assumptions,the objectives of the current legal regulation of the ban on the publication of pre-electionpolls, the stages of its development in the Polish electoral law, as well as to present theviews of the legal doctrine in this regard and to point out an example of violation of thecurrent ban, which is the “election bazar”. The ban on the publication of pre-election pollswas introduced into the system of Polish electoral law in 1991, and has evolved significantlyover the more than thirty years it has been in effect. In the past, the ban covered seven totwelve days preceding election day. Currently, based on Article 115 of the Election Code,the period is 24 hours preceding the day of voting until its conclusion.
