Kawał meczycha, mejwen, wjechać z lajfem – about professional vocabulary in the statements of Polish sports videobloggers

Summary/Abstract: The subject matter of the article is the vocabulary in audiovisual communications published by Polish sports videobloggers on YouTube. The research material consists of sic sports videoblogs run by sports journalists known for their work in institutionalized media. They are: “KOstyra SE”, “Prawda Futbolu,” “Prawda Siatki,” “Polsport – Michał Pol,” “Tomasz Ćwiąkała,” and “Foot Truck”. The discus- sion uses elements of the research procedure proposed by Tomasz Piekot to describe sociolects and professiolects. The linguistic analysis proves that the authors use a specific variant of the language in which the sports vocabulary (general and typical of specific sports – football, volleyball, combat sports) predominates and to a lesser extent there is journalistic vocabulary, vocabulary related to social media and colloquial vocabulary related to the profession of the speakers.
