Summary/Abstract: Romania’s accession to the North Atlantic Organisation and the engagement of this organisation in security operations in Iraq and Afghanistan have led our country to participate with forces in these theatres of operations. The Navy actively participates in Romanian military commitments by carrying out activities with a special character, such as the transport of materials after successfully finalising the assignment in a theatre of operations. In order to fulfil this important mission, the vessel “NST ALBATROS” had to cross an area with an unstable security environment, characterised by asymmetrical actions of piracy. Given the danger represented by pirates, activities were planned in the Naval Component Command following the two lines of operations.
