Summary/Abstract: Almost all children with autism spectrum disorders have feeding problems and abnormalities in the oral sensory processing of food. Gastrointestinal or other enzymatic problems are present. Nutritional biochemical processes are said to be directly related to psychiatric and neurological disorders, of which autism spectrum disorders are a part. Strict dietary regimens are suggested that minimize both gastrointestinal and mental complications. The article presents the importance of nutrition and different nutritional regimes that contribute to improving the functioning of children with autism spectrum disorder.
