Summary/Abstract: The quoted fragment of a Latin poem by the Old Polish poet, later Primate of Poland Andrzej Krzycki, translated by Prof. Wacław Uruszczak, was, as it were, an introduction to the original edition of the Formula processus, a codification of the old Polish land process. The Formula was adopted by the provinces of Małopolska at the Piotrków Sejm in 1523, and then - over the course of more than fifty years - by subsequent crown provinces. It remained in force until the collapse of the Polish state at the end of the 18th century. The momentousness of this act lay not only in the fact that it codified the previous procedural law, based largely on custom, but also in the fact that it reformed the law, reducing its formalism, shortening the proceedings and introducing an appeal, which replaced the judge's previous reprimand. The five-hundredth anniversary of the Formula processus, celebrated in 2023, was thus at the same time the anniversary of the functioning of the appeal on Polish soil.
