Summary/Abstract: This article refers to the book Kartezjusz i Kanibale by Iwona Krupecka, but primarily, it criticizes the vision of the history of thinking found behind the author’s reflections. While Krupecka’s erudition is commendable, as is her drawing on the legacy of post-structuralism, the totalization of the story of history, revealed time and again, is questionable. The first part of the article reviews the book, the second formulates objections to it, and the third and final summarizes the analyses, pointing out the strengths and great value of Krupecka’s work.
