Summary/Abstract: The story of Magdalena Bernacka and Piotr Czai's book, Czytelnio polska, cześć ci, cześć. A do- robek of Polish listeners at the Leoben Mining Academy (Krakow 2021), which was published in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, begins like a thriller film. One day in 2013, a doctor, Magdalena Bernacka, entered the attic of her family home in Rabka. There stood a trunk, and in it, wrapped in a dusty newspaper from June 1939, were old photographs, an album and letters from her grandfather, engineer Stefan Lukasiewicz. She had never met him; he died under mysterious circumstances during the 1939 defensive war. Unexpectedly for herself, her grandfather, a graduate of the Leoben Academy, became the peculiar narrator of her book. After all, it was he who collected and secured the documents, it was he who was so evocatively described in family memories that his papers preserved for posterity took on symbolic significance.
