Summary/Abstract: The current situation in the fine arts in Europe and the world requires the creation of new specific methodological approaches in the field of higher art education. The need to develop the associative thinking of students implies the application of contemporary teaching strategies, based on the principle of associativity and developing imagination. The goal for them is to positively influence the quality of their creative products. As a new stimulus for the creative provocation in the process of higher art education, I propose the possibility of step-by-step inclusion in the natural course of the learning process of thematic practical exercises – „games” of associations. Because rich associative thinking is an effective factor for the development of creative imagination.
