On the Need for Counseling and Support to Strengthen Adoptive Families

Summary/Abstract: The prime focus of this report is the need for counseling and long-term support for adoptive families. This paper focuses on the relationship between initial training of prospective adoptive parents, support during adoption, and the two-year period of family observation. Emphasis is placed on the further support of adoptive parents and children, in every period of their growth and strengthening as a family.
