Summary/Abstract: This article is an attempt to present deconstruction and its problematics as “essentially” queer and to show how deconstruction conditions and inspires – both historically and theoretically – queer studies. By emphasizing deconstruction’s interest in challenging hierarchies based on binary oppositions and in affirmation of singularity of the other, I demonstrate how these crucial aspects of Jacques Derrida’s thought could contribute to queer theories of the future especially with regard to the problem of rethinking subjectivity and communality.
