Summary/Abstract: The article aims to outline the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic for the Polish political system. The author also presented the impact of the pandemic on civil rights and freedoms, which are crucial for the functioning of democratic systems. An attempt was made to answer the research questions of whether the actions taken by the Polish public authorities to counteract the COVID-19 pandemic influenced the shape of the Polish political system, and whether they inter-fered with civil rights and freedoms. The author shows that the pandemic in Poland contributed to the strengthening of the executive at the expense of other authorities and that it was an opportunity to restrict civil rights and freedoms by public au-thorities. The article analyses legislative solutions, academic texts, and online sources.
