Summary/Abstract: In the last three decades a rise has been noticed in the prevalence of obesity at children all over the world, with numerous consequences on their health. Obesity is recognized as one of the most important issues and challenges of public health in the 21st century. Previous research has shown the risk factors for the development of childhood obesity, which could be categorized into three major groups: socio-demographical characteristics of the family, habits related to physical activity, habits related to diet. It is particularly significant that these are some factors that could be modified. Therefore, it is necessary to act on the level of prevention and control of obesity.
