Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses a vocabulary of early Uganda Nubi (Owen & Keane 1915), which has never been analyzed in the literature on Arabic-lexifier pidgins and creoles. A detailed examination of the words, phrases and sample sentences in Owen & Keane (1915) is carried out. It is shown that these provide valuable insights into the development of the phonology, morphosyntax and lexicon of this variety of creolized Arabic spoken in Uganda.
