Summary/Abstract: This article studies the development of soft skills in religious educationlessons in Slovakia. At present, the educational system focuses on the acquisi-tion of knowledge in the form of hard skills instead of developing soft skills. However, soft skills are life necessities in the 21st century. Religious educa-tion, which is currently defined as the development of religious literacy, repre-sents a meaningful space for the personal development of pupils, and the de-velopment of soft skills, which can be beneficial for their personal and profes-sional life. According to research among religious education teachers, we canaffirm that soft skills are included in the lessons. Nevertheless, while teachershave more developed effective management and communication skills, theylack the ability to support cooperative and independent learning.
