Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to examine the major and career choices, social relationships at the university, academic motivations and learning processes of undergraduate psychology students. In this study using phenomenological design, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 11 traditional and 11 non-traditional psychology students. Findings of thematic analysis showed that personal interest/curiosity was the most influential factor in participants' decision to study psychology and similarity played an important role in friend choice; their academic motivation was high; the majority did not have any problems during educational life; and had career plans. It was concluded that non-traditional participants were more disciplined and worked more regularly than traditional participants; were trying to balance family life and educational responsibilities, and perceived gaining knowledge as a positive aspect of psychology education more. The results of the research are expected to contribute to experts working in the field of psychology, academics, career counselors and those who want to study psychology in the future.
