Summary/Abstract: Globalization shows up as a phenomenon that affects human life all over the world and it has affected the field of education. Globalization has detracted universities from being institutions which are science-based and think critically. It’s transformed them into economics-based institutions. This situation has led both the universities to be commercialized and commodification of academic knowledge. At this point, the aim is to find the impact of globalization on the universities which are at the highest level of educational organizations. With this purpose, at first globalization and universities then the privatization and commercializations of universities, academic freedom, change in the management of universities, loss of autonomy, the situation in research funds, directed research, indexed publication, diploma and certificate purposed education, lack of critical thinking subjects are mentioned. Analysis was made by comparing the situations all over the world and Turkey. As a result, the impacts of globalization which is rapidly felt at all stages of education on universities have been tried to be explained with different dimensions.
