Summary/Abstract: In this study, the effects of the iron and steel sector on the export figures of the shipbuilding industry are investigated in terms of production with international indicator indices and foreign trade with export data on steel production processes. With the two models established in the study, calculations were made with panel data analysis methods for thirteen leading countries in both iron and steel and shipbuilding industries using annual series for the period 2003-2019. In the study, it was found that there is a positive and significant relationship between the exports of the ship and yacht building industry, the share of natural resource rent in GDP and steel production variables. In addition, in the second model, which was established to determine the trade relations regarding the main raw materials, it was concluded that there is a significant and positive relationship between ship and yacht building industry exports and scrap material and iron ore imports. Since the shipbuilding and iron and steel industries are among the sectors that are primarily affected by the global climate crisis enforcement, it is among the policy recommendations of the study that both industries should adopt policies that take into account IMO and climate regulations and focus on activities to meet low-cost raw material needs.
