Summary/Abstract: In this study, it is aimed to reveal the effect of geomorphological factors and vegetation characteristics on the distribution of fairy chimneys located in the village of Oğuldere (Buban) in the north of Bingöl. In the study, the Digital Elevation Model (DEM), the locations of the fairy chimneys and the satellite images are the basic data set. DEM was created by topography maps and within the scope of geomorphological factors, slope, aspect, layers of elevation steps, and by the satellite images covering the study area, Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) laver was created. Locations of fairy chimneys and slope, aspect, elevation and NDVI layers were overlapped with zonal statistics. The minimum, maximum and average values of these locations were determined for each parameter. According to the results, it was observed that fairy chimney formation is more common on south-facing hillsides with moderate slopes and that fairy chimney formation is rare on north-facing hillsides with similar lithology and slope. This is related to the fact that the north-facing hillsides are rich in vegetation. According to the results, geomorphology and vegetation were decisive in the distribution of Oğuldere fairy chimneys.
