Summary/Abstract: An earthquake, known as a natural event, turns into a natural disaster when it causes loss of life and property. It was understood that there was also a GTMK volleyball team that went from Cyprus to participate in volleyball competitions in Turkey during the Kahramanmaraş Center Earthquakes. On the sixth day of the incident, it was determined that four people from the 39-person convoy survived. This incident went down in history as the largest and most collective loss experienced by Turkish Cypriots after the 1974 war. This study focused on the public's choice of media and trust in sources in case of disaster. This study, which focuses on how communication is achieved in crises, is based on the Media Richness Theory and Social Media Crisis Communication Model. In the field research, data was collected with semi-structured electronic survey forms. Among the findings were that the participants followed the news about the earthquake more intensively on social media, that instant and witness shares gained importance, and that the trust in mainstream media organs regarding accurate reporting was very low.
