Summary/Abstract: The aim of the research was to reveal the ability of students in the violin education courses of the music teacher training program to perform the works of traditional Turkish classical music (GTSM) with microintervals. For this purpose, a training program that includes GTSM maqam music in violin education has been created. A single-group pre-test and post-test experimental design was used to determine the students’ performance developments after the training. The experimental group, determined by the purposeful sampling method, consisted of 8 students studying at Bursa Uludag University Music Education Department in the 2020-2021 spring semester. Significant differences in the training, which lasted 10 weeks, were tested with the Wilcoxon test. Qualitative data regarding the opinions of the study group students about the usability of maqam music in violin training were obtained with a semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher and analyzed by content analysis. The results of the research showed that the post-test scores of the training given to the Hicaz, Hüseyni and Rast maqams were significantly higher than the pre-test scores in all criterion skills.
