Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of this article is to clarify a few aspects regarding the reorientation (imposed by the Soviet Union) of the Romanian foreign trade after World War II towards the countries of the Eastern Bloc. Thus, I tried to display the main means used by the Soviet Union in order to achieve a radical transformation of the Romanian foreign trade. Among this means it can be mentioned: the nationalization and the centralization of foreign trade, the conclusion of several trade agreements, and the re-orientation of the national industrial production. COMECON (Council of Mutual Economic Assistance), created in 1949, was also used by Moscow as a mean of controlling the foreign trade of Eastern European countries.
